MPs in the UK Call for Moratorium on All Gambling Advertising During Covid-19 Shutdown
As Casino Guardian already reported, Members of Parliament have urged the regulators and the Government to impose a moratorium on all gambling advertising during the coronavirus lockdown, to prevent people who stay at home from becoming too exposed to online gambling and gambling advertising.
After the beginning of the Covid-19 shutdown, the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC), which is the trade body representing the major gambling operators in the country, revealed that its members have decided to voluntarily cease their advertising on radio and TV channels for a minimum of six weeks by May 7th.
At the time, the BGC revealed that the major gambling brands, however, kept their right to continue advertising online and across direct marketing channels. Still, the companies have remained committed to safer gambling messaging online in order to protect local customers.
